DPMS Gen 1 Style lower receiver for the 7.62x51/ 308 cartridge

  • Half the weight of a metal lower

  • Lifetime Guarantee

  • Easy Assembly

The AR-308® Receiver is designed to be stronger and lighter than anything on the market today. We invented the hybrid AR lower receiver and we used that experience in designing the AR-308. We have used our TN ARMS 15 lower in every caliber from .22 LR to 50 BMG. The AR-308 is 30% bigger and includes reinforcement in key areas. This lower receiver assembles just like an AR15 style lower. AR308 lpk is available here: with the roll pin (like an AR15) we use instead of a screw.

The AR-10 type rifle does not have dimensional standards like the AR-15 series does. Not all upper receivers will fit as well as others. We recommend upper receivers from Aero Precision, Head Down Products, Delta Tactical, and the Palmetto State Gen 2. Any AR-15 style trigger will fit fine.

 Weight is 6.3 ounces

If budget matters more then color

I did a lot of research on these lowers before I ever purchased. The reviews from other buyers other then those found on this TAC online store we're actually more positive and better for this large frame LR-308 polymer receiver that TAC has created then their AR-15 polymer receiver. Several reviewers who had both were pretty clear that the large frame LR-308 holds up better (counterintuitive that the polymer lower for the larger more powerful cartridges would hold up better then the normal size AR-15 frame). Reviews were basically solid that the TAC large frame LR-308 will basically stand up to anything but the "push-up test". So I purchased a pair of these to start with and built a pair of guns up on them. (By the way TAC needs to add "Bear Creek Arsenal AR-10 Complete DPMS Gen-1 compatible" uppers and "Noreen Firearms DPMS Gen-1 High Rail Pattern Forged" stripped uppers to the list of uppers that work with these lowers. Noreen especially fits really well!). And I have been very pleased with the results. They are working great !!! As suggested an extended mag release button that is a taller button only and does not have a tab that makes the button larger, just taller is strongly suggested (PSA sells them for $4 each). Also, I preferred to use a true Armalite AR-10 pattern carbine buffer tube and spring (Luther arms $20 tube + $5 spring) rather then a standard AR-15 buffer tube so that I could use a standard three weight AR-15 standard buffer rather then the special DPMS two weight shorty buffer and special heavy spring. I used PSA Magpul MOE EPT AR-15 lower build kits to build up my lowers ($80-to-$120 depending on exact options and on-sale or not-on-sale) just substituted the Armalite AR-10 pattern tube and spring and the taller mag release button. Then put bulk purchased tungsten weights in the buffers as necessary. In addition, as an unexpected bonus, the mag-wells on these lowers are cut more generously internally and will accept the low cost poly ProMag 308 magazines ($13 for 30-round mags !!!) and allow them to drop free that most people using other 308 lowers complain are too fat and are too tight in their mag-wells and will not drop free. Long story short, so long as you don't try to do push-ups on your rifle, these will do the job and work well.
